I’ll write more about this tomorrow, but here are the updated results:
Clinton in Rhode Island by about 18%
Clinton in Ohio by roughly 12%
Obama in Vermont by 22%
Texas still too close to call, with Clinton leading by 2%
For the record, in an email earlier today, I predicted:
No idea on Rhode Island
Clinton in Ohio by 8%
Obama in Vermont by 17%
Clinton in Texas by 4%
Not bad in terms of predictions, but certainly not great in terms of results. Obama gave a great talk after conceding Ohio — I thought his best speech since South Carolina. The media is going with the whole Hillary is Back in the Game spin, which is predictable. Also, all of the exit polls in Rhode Island, Ohio, and Texas were much closer than the actual results (Obama seems to have gotten a big boost in Texas from early voting, so even the TX exit polls seem off). Could lead to more consideration of The Bradley Effect.
On the GOP side, McCain officially hit 1,191, sweeping all four contests, and Huckabee is now officially Huckawas — giving a concession speech and dropping out of the race. I’ll have more on the Republican side tomorrow as well. But for now, off to bed…
UPDATE: Clinton just declared winner in Texas by NBC News. That really is a lucky sweater of Howard Wolfson’s!
