… the people walking around the harbor today with the “Green Monstah” T-shirts leaving the stadium quickly and quietly.
… people watching the game at the Tam in Boston paying their tab, walking to the T and whining about Masterson, Saito, Papelbon…
… being at the game tonight surrounded by obnoxious Red Sox fans at “Fenway South” [...]

Slow news day?

You wouldn’t think so… I mean, Norm Coleman conceded to Al Franken giving Democrats a 60th vote, U.S. troops are withdrawing from Iraq, and in the biggest news of all, my Orioles are 1 out away from winning a game against the Red Sox in which they had trailed 10-1.
Still, none can match the entertainment [...]

There were too many things going right with this sentence not to pull it out…
“For one day, and probably only one day, Baltimore’s Camden Yards was transformed from the funeral home of a bumbling franchise to the raucous center of a populist rebellion.”
Actually, the full column (by Ken Rosenthal) is worth a read (even if [...]

So, before I posted that last thingamajig, it’d been a while since my last post. Which means that over the past couple of weeks I’ve had about 20 or 30 things I’ve meant to write about. Most of the thoughts passed – the Green Party had their convention and nominated McKinney (I may still write [...]
It felt like an Orioles game

Over the past week, I’ve gone to two Orioles games: one last Friday when the Pirates returned to Baltimore for the first time since ‘79, and again last night as the Orioles were going for a sweep against the Astros. We won both, so yeah, both seemed exciting. But more than just the victories (and [...]

Looks like it’s official: after what will have been 36 seasons, Orioles fans win. Starting in 2009, the team road jerseys will read “Baltimore,” symbolically tying the team to its city. Apparently, the decision was made by Peter Angelos, which should create some dissonance in the fans who have been demanding this change [...]
Is renouncing U.S. citizenship required to join Red Sox Nation?

File the following under things that are increasingly tough:
1. Wearing an Orioles shirt to Camden Yards when the Red Sox are in town.
2. Listening to the crowd in my stadium try to start up the chorus to Sweet Caroline.
3. Chants of “Yankees Suck” echoing during said Orioles game.
4. Losing the game and walking out of [...]

Watching the Orioles/Nationals game (1-0 Nats in the 4th), and they just mentioned that valet parking is available for Nats home games. Yeah… buy me some peanuts and lobster tail…

Apparently it wasn’t just the song “Orioles Magic,” but this video that was playing at Camden Yards today following the Orioles win (I watched the game on TV, didn’t see the video.) Anyway, it is kinda a must see…

I don’t know… they’re playing well, but more importantly, maybe these guys get [...]
