But those values upon which our success depends – hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism – these things are old. These things are true. They have been the quiet force of progress throughout our history. What is demanded then is a return to these truths. What is [...]

Crazy making days, an Iowa kind of night. What a country.
It’s an unusual thing to think about today, but I have in my head the infamous Obama “bitterness” comment. I was one of the people critical of him when he said it, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t ‘get’ what he meant.
I’d add [...]

Mark Warner is ahead in the race for Virginia’s open Senate seat by a greater margin (26 points) than John Kerry leads his opponent in Massachusetts (24 points). How weird is that?

For the purposes of these predictions, I went with the loosest possible definition of “battleground” states. Some, like Florida or Ohio, are legitimate battlegrounds. Tuesday weather report:
The statewide forecasts are sunny for Pennsylvania, Missouri, and Ohio, so turnout should be high in both Democratic and Republican areas. No obvious weather advantage for either side. The Obama ceiling? [...]

Alright, I’ve gotta give some credit to the McCain campaign today. In response to a speech by Joe Biden about Obama’s economic plan vs. McCain’s “anger” issues, the McCain campaign issued the following Biden-esque statement: “Ladies and gentlemen, the fact is that Barack Obama and Joe Biden will literally raise your taxes.”
That’s not quite [...]

23 days left in the campaign, and it seems like a fun time to start some post-election predictions (originally, I was going to go back through old predictions I’ve made here and see how I did. I still might after the election, but that doesn’t seem like nearly as much fun right now.)
Alright, first [...]
